Away from the crowds

If you’ve seen the news over the past few days then you’d be led to believe that every beach in the country is full to bursting point. If you are looking for peace and seclusion then our advice would be to avoid the big well known sandy expanses, and head to the smaller rockier coves.

All of our cabins @coastalcabins are named after local coves in the Hartland area. There are so many stunning beaches and beauty spots nearby. Admittedly they are harder to get to, and none will have facilities like public toilets, lifeguards or cafes. But i’d choose quiet and calm over that any day (pandemic or no pandemic!).

There are some excellent resources online to help you discover these spots. We’d recommend the Hartland Peninsula website (, and also Ordnance Survey ( The South West Coast Path site also has a handy interactive map showing coastal car parks, public toilets and great walks (

We are fully booked @coastalcabins until 7th September. Late summer is a great time to visit. The weather is often fab and it’s lovely and quiet!
