Where can you find the Easter Bunny?
It’s a great time of year Easter, and it’s really a great time to be in North Devon. Once we get this ‘Beast from the East’ over and done with I’ll be glad to get out and about to enjoy all that our beautiful area offers.
The Easter holidays are the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with family and loved ones. It’s not often that we get 2 bank holidays in a row so it’s time to make the most of it!
Here’s our round up of the best events in the area over Easter:
Clovelly Village (10 mins from Coastal Cabins)
Visit the stunning village of Clovelly and you’ll feel like you’ve leapt back in time by about 100 years. Car free and totally unique, Clovelly will capture your heart. This Easter it’ll even win over the hearts of your kids too – even the most tantruming toddlers and sulky teenagers. How I hear you ask? With lots of chocolate of course! You’ll be given a village map on arrival and entasked with the job of finding the hidden Easter chicks. If they spot 10 chicks they win an Easter egg and for 15 chicks a bigger mystery prize!
Come along and join the fun.

Hartland Abbey (5 mins from Coastal Cabins)
In Hartland we are very lucky to have the beautiful Hartland Abbey right on our doorstep. The grand manor house with lovely 18th Century gardens, and the adjoining rugged Atlantic cove and cottage have been the location of many TV dramas and Films. The Abbey welcomes visitors from Easter onwards and celebrates two fun filled days of Easter Egg Hunts and traditional games in the gardens. The tea rooms are a real treat too.
Choc Fest @ Atlantic Village (20 mins from Coastal Cabins)
Back by popular demand, our local outlet shopping village has brought back Choc Fest. Celebrating all things chocolate there will be a range of local chocolaty stall holders to tempt you with their delicious treats. Once you’ve stuffed your face full of as much chocolate as you can, you can burn some of it off hitting the outlet shops. Highlights include M&S, Gap, Nike and more. There’s also a great indoor and outdoor play area for the little ones.

The Big Sheep (20 mins from Coastal Cabins)
For those of you yet to visit The Big Sheep then you’re in for a treat. No unfortunately there aren’t any actual giant sheep, but there are rather a lot of normal sized sheep! Plus at this time of year you’ll also get to meet lots of tiny cute baby sheep (otherwise know as lambs). The lambing season will be in full swing. Oh and there’s also…you guessed it…an Easter egg hunt! The Eggstravaganza Festival is a true celebration of all things Easter with no less than 30,000 chocolate eggs hiding in the park.

The Milky Way (15 mins from Coastal Cabins)
Another classic local theme park that’s worth a visit. Ever wondered where the Easter Bunny’s magic is made? Apparently it’s at the Easter Bunny’s Grotto just up the road from us, how handy! Take your children to meet the Bunny him/her self and get ANOTHER chocolate egg! You definitely can’t have too many chocolate eggs at Easter.

Rosemoor (35 mins from Coastal Cabins)
There are only 4 RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) gardens in the whole of the UK, and one of them is RHS Rosemoor. It’s stunning and a must see at any time of the year, but Easter in particular is a real winner. The garden will be bursting into bloom and there’s fun activities for all the family scheduled every day. Hop along the trail and solve the clues in the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt (EVERYONE loves Lindt bunnies don’t they?), and drop into the Learning Centre for daily craft workshops. Oh and did I mention the fluffy hatchling chicks? Plus the garden restaurant is to die for!

Arlington (50 mins from Coastal Cabins)
This one is a bit of a drive but it really is worth the trip. Like all National Trust properties, Arlington Court is a stunning house with extensive gardens. Get outside this Easter and take part in their new wildlife trail and collect your prize at the end. You’ll also have the chance to meet their new flock of lambs and learn more about how these little fluffy friends help the Arlington estate thrive.
