Top 5 buggy friendly beaches
The temperatures are rising and the next few weeks looks like it’s going to be HOT #heatwave. I am super excited as there’s nothing better than a family day at the beach 🙂
We are very fortunate at Coastal Cabins to have a huge coast line FULL of superb beaches. Whether you’re looking for deserted hidden coves or large expanses of sand – there’s a perfect beach for everyone.
Here’s our pick of the top 5 buggy friendly beaches near @coastalcabins
The closest beach to Coastal Cabins is Hartland Quay. Just 5 mins away, even the drive down to the car park is a view you’ll never forget. There’s a concrete slipway that leads all the way to the beach making it easy for buggies and little ones. There are rocks, so abandon the buggy at the bottom set up camp. With loos, a pub and little shop (ice creams!) it’s a great spot for a paddle.
A 15 min drive south down the Atlantic Highway and turn off to Sandy Mouth. A National Trust beach (with free parking if you’re a member!) it’s beautifully maintained. There’s a good step free path right down to the beach where you’ll find miles of uninterrupted sand. With loos and an excellent café it’s picture perfect.
20 mins in the other direction takes you to Instow. A pretty sailing village on the estuary where the rivers Taw and Torridge meet. There’s a stunning sandy beach with the added bonus of sand dunes for the kids to let off some steam. Completely flat with a seafront promenade and good selection of eateries and ice cream sellers. Visit @johnsdeli for seaside picnic fare, or @theboathouse for dining with THAT view. Pop on the ferry across to the fishing village of Appledore for some crabbing!
30 mins drive and you are treated to all the wonderful beaches of Bude. Crooklets and Summerleaze are right in the town centre making them super accessible. Both have easy access car parks and flat paths to the sandy beaches. Pop to @lifesabeach for family friendly relaxed beachside dining.
Travel a bit further along the North Devon coast and you’ll be rewarded with the vast expanses of sand at Saunton Sands, Croyde or Woolacombe. This part of the coast is about a 45min-1hr drive and traffic can get very busy during the peak summer. If visiting off peak or getting up early in the morning then this is a great option for an all day beach session. All are easily accessible and have loos, cafés, surf hire and basically everything you’d need.
Book your stay @coastalcabins today and explore all the beaches for yourself!
